Renovated and Refurnished

This apartment is on the 2nd floor of a walk-up and hadn’t been touched in at least 50 years. It needed a full renovation. My client had been living in the apartment for 10 years, and finally realized that she wanted to live differently – with light, furniture to scale, an open, functional, and more modern kitchen, updated bathroom fixtures and vanity, and all of the little details like molding, doors, loose cable wires, and walls, finessed and finished. She wanted a better quality of life, where she felt comfortable having friends over and she wanted to increase the value of her home. So we did it all!

It is a small apartment, only about 500 sq feet. The biggest challenge that we faced was making it feel open, while including everything my client wanted and needed, so that it didn’t feel cluttered. We accomplished this with a light and neutral color scheme, by white washing the brick wall, and using a dining table that expands for entertaining. We also re-designed the kitchen layout so that it feels much more open, and the sight lines flow more fluidly with cabinets almost to the ceiling.

This project included everything from top to bottom – floor plans, furniture layouts, re-designing the kitchen layout, re-finishing wood floors, replacing base molding and interior doors, updating vanity, mirrors, lights in the bathroom, installing overhead lighting throughout, and refurnishing the entire living room and dining room, with a few updated pieces in the bedroom. We also skim coated the walls, hid all cable wires, and painted the entire apartment.
